Last season, they gave you the not so magnificent Miami 7, the tragic tale of a band of no hopers who after being offered $50,000 dollars, told of dreams to blow up the Sears Tower (though they couldn’t find it on a map) and single handedly launch a war against the entire US.
This summer, from the producers of FUBAR in Iraq comes……………….The Fort Dix Six.
Once again, we have a case of clueless wannabes whose idea of being a terrorist cell is to drive around in a pick-up with an Osama Bin Laden bumper sticker.
In January 2006 a retailer alerted FBI officers about a customer who had been asked to copy a video onto a DVD. The footage depicted young men at a firing range who were shooting assault weapons while calling for “jihad” and shouting “Allah Akbar,” or “God is Great” in Arabic, prosecutors said in a criminal complaint.
The suspects had acquired semi-automatic assault rifles, shotguns and hand guns and performed surveillance on Fort Dix and other U.S. military installations in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania, the complaint said.
How ironic that this should take place the same week that the NRA insisted terrorists should be allowed to buy guns.
The National Rifle Association is urging the Bush administration to withdraw its support of a bill that would prohibit suspected terrorists from buying firearms.
But just when you thought this plot line was going to take an unexpected turn, it’s as predictable and corny Spiderman 3. Enter the formulaic FBI informants.
By March 2006 the group was infiltrated by the first of two FBI informers, who obtained computer files. One of these — a file named “19” — appears to be the last will and testament of at least two of the 19 hijackers who carried out the September 11 attacks, the document said.
My word, those 19 hijackers just couldn’t help misplacing things could they?
When the informant asked Shnewer why he wanted to attack Fort Dix, he replied, “My intent is to hit a heavy concentration of soldiers.”
Taking on a military base with a handful of riles. Now there’s a brilliant idea.
If Condi got up and said that no one could have predicted a team of six gunmen would take on a military base, I might actually have believed her.
