Sir Terry O’Reilly, media magnate and chief executive of Independent News and Media, says that the newspaper industry should mobilise to deal with internet theft. He has told the UK Sunday Times, with seemingly no irony, that, “Newspapers are tactile, hugely cheap, reliable, go with a cup of coffee. You can trust newspaper writers. Can you trust a blogger?”
Tomorrow’s headline: “O’Reilly, yesterday’s man, denies 21st century media reality, dismisses the internet, wants to maintain old media monopoly.”
