Bernard Avishai, leading Jewish thinker, on just another day on Reshet Bet, Israel’s dominant radio station:
A 10-15 minute report on today’s Likud primary, in which the radio host interviewed a succession of Likud candidates and officials, all outdoing themselves to explain why Benjamin Netanyahu is headed for the prime minister’s chair: how the “neighborhood” as he likes to call it needs a tough leader; how (responsible) settlers need a champion; how America needs to persist in the war on terror, and Netanyahu is the man to tell them; and so forth.
Likud may actually be moving even further to the right, encouraging a racist agenda that makes the current “centrist” position seem moderate.
When will the world acknowledge that many Israelis truly hate Arabs?
