“Democracy is not about voting but about values. There is a need to demand, any party, as part of the democratic system, to adopt the values of democracy before participating in elections. This is part of any democratic system in the world except in the Middle East.”
Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni says that Hamas should not have been allowed to participate in the January elections that saw the Islamic party take power in the Palestinian territories.
Since when is it Israel’s right to dictate democratic terms to the Palestinians? After all, a fascist now resides high in the Israeli government, a man who advocates the murder of Hamas “terrorists”, the ignoring of Palestinian Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and the disolution of every agreement between the two sides.
Just who wants to discard democracy?
UPDATE: In the occasional “Zionism Watch” segment, prepare to laugh at the desperation in these words.
